Flash floods hit Labuhan Batu, 12 people survived from the Collapsing Bridge

Kolom Utama. A total of 12 people survived the brunt of flash floods in Tebinglinggahara Village, Bilah Barat District, Labuhanbatu Regency, North Sumatra, Friday, December 14, 2018. Flash floods damaged a suspension bridge connecting the village to breaking up.

"Because the water discharge has arrived near the suspension bridge, suddenly a lot of chunks of palm wood are carried by the current until it slips under the bridge. More and more wood is piled up resulting in clogged water lines," said Labuhanbatu police chief AKBP Frido Situmorang when confirmed.

When a flash flood occurs, the bridge is being crossed by 12 people. The condition of the river overflowed. However, luckily the victims managed to save themselves.

"So they fell. But, they were still able to save themselves. There were no drowning victims, but there were injuries due to being hit by logs. Earlier from Labuhanbatu Police Doctoral Hospital they had made a post," Frido said.

The access to the village of Tebinglinggahara to Sukamakmur Village was broken. So the impact is that citizens cannot cross as usual. All the victims were evacuated because they only fell when the bridge collapsed.
