Bawaslu Receives 126 Campaign Reports in Government Facilities

Pojok Nasional. The Election Supervisory Board (Bawaslu) stated that it had received a report on the implementation of the 2019 general election (Election) which allegedly violated Article 280 of Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning Elections.

Bawaslu member Fritz Edward Siregar said there were at least 49 campaign reports in places of worship, 33 campaign reports in the place of education, and 126 campaign reports at government facilities.

"It has been happening in various places and regions in the process of this campaign,"

Fritz said that his party is currently reviewing reports of alleged campaign violations that emerged during the 2019 election. However, Fritz said the alleged violation did not lead to a certain pair of presidential and vice-presidential candidates.

"We are not there (presidential and vice-presidential candidates). The title is election participants," he said.

Fritz stated that his party had also received reports of alleged violations of the installation of campaign props which reached 19,2129 reports and findings.

Reports and findings, said Fritz, consisted of 176,493 installation of teaching aids in a prohibited place, 14,255 campaign props containing prohibited material, up to 1381 installation of campaign props on public vehicles.

"That's about the number of reports. If we look at the campaign, there are campaign activities that can be carried out," he said.

In addition, Fritz said that he also found campaign advertisements in the mass media that had been made by participants in the 2019 election. Fritz detailed at least 429 campaign advertisements in print media, 153 campaign advertisements in electronic media, up to 12 campaign advertisements on the radio.

In fact, according to Fritz, campaign advertisements in mass media are still banned at this time.

"But sometimes the election participants disguise it. So the self image does not appear but the image of the person without a serial number, without any party pictures, is intentionally displayed so that his image is not obtained," he said.
